Decades of Enjoyment
Let’s face it, it’s pretty easy to burn out these days. Constant comparison to others (the thief of joy), impatience with results, etc can actually rob us of key moments of fun and more importantly the joy of a healthy physical activity which could last for decades.
Having the proper mindset going into training or competition is crucial. Solid mental health throughout, win or lose, in strength or in injury, will keep the athlete on the tracks. But, if not… there’s a lot of potential pain and suffering that could have been avoided.
Remember your “why”. Play the long game even if the short-term success is still out of reach. Remember that there are decades of playing time, healthy exercise and social opportunities awaiting you ahead. Most things definitely do take time to develop, and persistence pays off. Keep your head up, keep that spirit alive and don’t give up!
